3 New Interior Styles You Should Know for 2024
Hey, Everyone!
My name is Rebecca, and I'm the head of design here at Revive. Today, we're going to be talking about three design styles you may not have heard about yet. The first style we're going to be talking about today is Cottage core. I'm sure you guys have seen it all over TikTok, all over Instagram and Pinterest. But the philosophy here is a simple times and inspired by quaint country life. The three key features are a layered, cozy and warm approach. So, you can see here in this photo there's a lot going on. But this bedroom feels very cozy and warm. This specific designer has used a mural for a floral pattern on the walls. They've also incorporated a lot of vintage and antique furniture, which Cottage core has a huge focus on sustainability. So, the interiors are typically filled with a lot of functional items. You can see here the baskets are hung in this kitchen because they are used in the kitchen. You can see that the cutting boards are on display because they're easily accessible. You can also see that there's a dining space in here.
So again, it's all about bringing that kind of warmth and coziness to a home. The next style we're going to be talking about today is Japandi. And this style has been around for a while, but it's really gotten popular over the last decade. It's a mash up of Japanese interiors and scandinavian interiors. It's the idea that the East meets West and it blends the Japanese artistic elements of Wabi-sabi and the philosophy with the Scandinavian comforts and warmth. The design aesthetic is really focused on simplicity, natural elements, comfort and sustainability. So, you'll see in these photos there is a lot of wood, stone, linen, wool. It's all about that earthy kind of organic naturalism.
The last style we're going to be talking about today is European Modern. This style has really gained popularity over the last few years. So, you'll see a lot of hardwood, marble, stone, rich colors, a lot of history. You're not afraid to mix metallic tones. So, you'll see here in this photo, usually the floors are typically always wood. You have a lot of texture on the walls. The cabinets are reminiscent of a European style kitchen but done in a very clean and kind of elegant way. And everything is usually adorned with a really beautiful kind of metallic tone for hardware. You can see paint colors here in this bedroom. There's a very rich, deep, moody tone on the walls. And what that does is really encloses the space, makes it feel very cozy and warm. But also, it has this very beautiful, sophisticated, and understated luxury to it. A lot of iconic designers will also use very popular furniture pieces as an architectural feature. So, you can see that they've built a very simple space, but what they've one is gone in and accentuated with really beautiful furniture pieces to kind of be the cherry on top of the whole space.
Okay, Becca. So out of all three. What's your personal favorite for 2024? It's a tough, tough question. I think as a designer, I personally like to take little bits of each one and kind of make it my own. And that's really what my design philosophy is; you don't have to stick with just one specific style and incorporate that into your whole home. I think the beauty of design is that it's your home, it's personal, and you can make it what you want.
